Did you know that our grandmothers knew how to make their own herbal tea and coffee with local plants? Welcome to a wonderful botanical walk where you will gain knowledge about nature's pantry. During this walk, you will forage for many wild edibles and then create your own custom tea blend by combining leaves, petals, roots, seeds, of plants found. Through this course you will learn how to dry plants, and which plants to combine for making delicious teas. This knowledge will allow you to become more autonomous in foraging for wild edible plants and for creating your custom pantry.
We meet at Bouleråker Boulebanan, Ullerakersvägen 2, 756 43 Uppsala and walk along the paths a short distance away.
No prior knowledge is required to participate in this course.
Agnès Brosset is plant ecologist with a PhD degree in plant chemical ecology. She has also been crafting with herbs for 5 years. Agnès has always been enthusiastic about sharing her skills and knowledge about plants, by teaching MSc courses at the University of Eastern Finland and now by offering courses for everyone through Medborgarskolan. She is also a homesteaders and lives her life as sustainable as possible by living totally off grid, foraging, growing vegetables, preserving foods to be more resilient by reducing her dependency to outside sources for food and supplies.
All our course leaders undergo the Medborgarskolan introductory course and are offered a solid internal education program with the opportunity for continued individual development.
The basic idea of folkbildning is that the participants in collaboration with the course leader learn from each other. The work methods are democratic and engaging and the learning is active. The participants seek and build their own knowledge through dialogue, interaction and reflection with each other. Together with the participants the course leader will adapt the content of the course to suit everyone.
