Poster Making - Hammarby sjöstad

Introduction

Do you love a good poster?
Do you want to learn to create memorable moving posters? Are you interested in attracting attention to certain societal issues or events? We will dive deep into different ways of creating effective visual messages and making them move. You can come as you are with any level of knowledge about posters, however, we will start from scratch with motion graphic program called After Effects. 

Content

During six lessons, we will learn how to build effective concepts for posters. We will also go through the basics of popular motion graphic programs called After Effects and Blender. After Effects will be the main focus and Blender will work as a secondary program for the ones who wishes to take their sketch into 3D form. You can come up with any subject you are currently interested in, whether it’s an upcoming gig to be marketed or a societal issue that has bothered your mind lately or a completely made up event or issue! 

After this course you will have:

• Basic understanding how to sketch an effective poster idea
• Basic understanding of motion design in After Effects
• One ready or almost-ready poster (depending on you)

The course will be held in English. In helping-situations the course leader can also speak Swedish, Finnish and Spanish.

Schedule

We will meet once a week on six Tuesdays at 18:00-20:15 
5th November (course starts), 12th November, 19th November, 26th November, 3d December and 10th December.

All lessons will be held at Kulturama, Virkesvägen 21, 120 30 Stockholm.

Course leader

Hey! My name is Hanna-Katri and I’m an artist originally from Finland, who is currently pursuing their master studies at Konstfack. I fell in love with poster art at a very young age by promoting events at our high school. Later, during my bachelor studies at Aalto-university, I’ve studied poster art in many forms, especially in motion. During my career as poster artist I’ve had clients from the field of poetry, events and cinema. 

Course material

For this course you need your own computer and your own After Effects license. Blender can be downloaded for free from their web page.

You don’t need any knowledge beforehand!
