Föreläsningen
Hendrik (originally Heinrich) was the youngest son of Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. In 1901 he married Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands and became the first ‘Prince Consort’ in Dutch history, a position that more or less had to be invented for him. Overshadowed by his formidable wife and often a respectful few metres behind her on official occasions, he is often overlooked or reduced to a figure of scandal and ridicule. Dutch historian Arnout van Cruyningen wants to set the record straight and is working on the first full scale biography of the Prince.
Föreläsare
Arnout van Cruyningen lives in Wijchen, the Netherlands. He is an expert on the history of Europe's Royal Families and the institution of Monarchy, and the author of several books on the House of Oranje-Nassau and the history of the Netherlands, as well as a large number of articles and book reviews in national and international magazines.
